Roki and maneta disqualified from big brother stargame

After a dramatic nomination session Monday which saw Nigerian housemate Goldie save her love Prezzo, putting in his place Ghanaian Keitta, from possible eviction Sunday, Roki and Maneta have been disqualified. The Zimbabwean housemates were evicted from the show today after a physical altercation which contravened the rules of the reality show. Maneta threw a cleaning fluid in Roki’s face and apparently threatened to stab Roki who had also thrown fluids at his fellow country woman. Big Brother after going into the matter concluded that Roki intentionally provoked Maneta who reacted out of provocation. After the incident, M-Net and Endemol, producers of the reality show in a statement said, the rules regarding physical violence is most important in the house and “are committed to enforcing the immediate disqualification of any housemate(s) who break these rules.” The statement added that “Roki and Maneta will be provided with psychological and medical treatment and counseling to assist them with conflict and anger management.” The two will be the second housemates to be disqualified from the show for violence. Ghanaian housemate, Derick Kobina Boney (DKB) and Zainab from Serra Leone were disqualified from the show Monday, June 4 after a physical confrontation which saw DKB slap the Zainab. Kenyan housemate Prezzo, who is a close friend of Roki, could not hold but shed tears as his pal packed to leave the house. Namibian Lady May and Goldie also shed tears though goldie obviously cried because prezzo was crying. Maneta, who had tried to get intimate with Keitta on the other hand hurled insults at Prezzo, Goldie and Keitta as she left the Big Brother house. ASUU says NO to MAULAG, introduces 'UNILAG forever' badge..lol

The University of Lagos has introduced a new badge to discredit the renaming of the institution after the acclaimed winner of the June 12, 1993 presidential election, the late Chief Moshood Abiola by the Federal Government. The badge, which carries the inscription, “UNILAG forever,” was distributed to members of staff and students at a news conference by the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) on Monday. According to the chairman of the University of Lagos branch of the union, Dr Oghenekaro Ogbinaka, who was accompanied by his counterparts from the University of Ibadan and the Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta, Drs Segun Ajiboye and Biodun Badmus and the National Treasurer of ASUU, Dr Demola Aremu, the badge is one of the steps being taken by the union to work against the renaming of institution. He said, “we have mapped out plans to persistently reject the renaming of the University of Lagos. The renaming of the University of Lagos after 50 years of existence, is one of such actions that have been taken to an absurd level.” He further said that government’s action would be challenged legally, while describing the pronouncement of President Goodluck Jonathan as a wrong and immoral decision intended to gain cheap popularity. Following the submission of the amended bill that set up the University of Lagos to the National Assembly by the president recently, the academics vowed to storm the public hearing to thwart the decision of the government. According to Ogbinaka, the union has gathered the support of eminent lawyers, including Chief Afe Babalola (SAN) and Wole Olanipekun (SAN) to argue its case both at the law court and during the public hearing. In another development, the Nigerian Association of Law Teachers has condemned the renaming of UNILAG, calling on the government to rescind its decision.

Write it, sing it or even film it if you can. One is bound to achieve the desired result. Not convinced that his apology via his press statement has truly been accepted, DKB has now released a song for Zainab titled ‘Apology’. How creative. We get it DKB; you are sorry for your irrational behaviour. Releasing a lame rap your apology does not make you any more remorseful than writing it does. The song which was released on Saturday 16th June is aimed at addressing the issue of gender violence. DKB wants men all over Africa to learn from his mistakes and avoid violence against both men and women in the society. What a noble initiative DKB. A better initiative however might be to actually enroll for an anger management class and also learn how a gentleman ought to treat a lady. Thankfully, this is DKB’s total and final apology to Zainab. We won’t wake up one morning to find that he has released a Gollywood flick titled ‘I’m Sorry Zainab’.
